I was born and raised in Iowa until I was 10 years old. We moved to Western Nebraska where I lived until I was 13 years old, and then on to the Panhandle of Texas. I graduated from a small town on the border of Oklahoma and Texas and packed by bags to move back to the Midwest for college. Since then I have lived in 4 different towns/cities in Iowa and Nebraska. Some were temporary homes, and in one I made a sort of family for 4 years. My next stop is the city of Gwangmyeong, South Korea, just outside of Seoul.
I am a recent graduate with a degree in Social Sciences Education (yes, that means I'm a licensed teacher). I love teaching, and I love history and global studies. Sadly, the market for those types of people is highly saturated and the therefore demand is in the tubes.
In order to satisfy my desire for international experiences, I have decided to hop on a plane and accept a contract teaching English in aforementioned South Korea. It will be different, educationally speaking, but a challenge I am ready to accept. More than anything, I am excited to begin the transition to becoming an expat and immersing myself in a brand new country and culture. Time will only tell where this journey will take me- both personally and professionally.
